Fishtrap Lake

View of Fishtrap Lake, the 339 acre lake in Boulder Junction, Wisconsin
Fishtrap Lake is a nice 339 acre lake with clear water located about ten minutes north of Boulder Junction. The lake connects with High Lake offering a big body of water to explore. One of the nicer things about Fishtrap Lake is that it has a meandering shoreline. Meandering shorelines are far prettier and more interesting (at least in my opinion) than bowl shaped lakes where you can take it all in with one glance. The 6.3 mile shoreline only has about 10.5 owners per mile of shoreline. The water clarity is really good, coming in at 14 feet. Fishtrap Lake is a clear-water lake just north of Boulder Junction that connects with High Lake, creating a larger, combined system with lots of shoreline to explore. Its meandering shoreline—full of points, bays, and subtle narrows—makes it particularly appealing for paddling and small-boat exploring, giving it more visual interest than simple bowl-shaped lakes. The lake sits close enough to town to be convenient but far enough out to feel like its own destination with a generally relaxed, cabin-country atmosphere. The clear water and winding shoreline make it a scenic, cabin-friendly lake, and its connection to High Lake adds even more room to roam. Owners who land here typically want a pretty, mid-sized system with good fishing and a quieter north-of-town setting. Buyers who favor Fishtrap often want a clear, connected lake with a scenic shoreline, strong fishing, and a quieter, north-of-town setting.

This is a summary based on available information.

Fishtrap and neighboring High Lake support a multi-species fishery highlighted by walleyes, muskies, bass, pike, and panfish, with the connecting channel allowing fish to move freely between basins. Weedlines, points, and channel edges between the two lakes are prime spots, especially in low-light windows and shoulder seasons. Clear water encourages many anglers to focus on 8–16 foot edges with jigs, live bait rigs, and smaller crankbaits, while muskies and pike patrol bars and saddles that link shallow and deep water. For cabin owners, Fishtrap Lake offers the sense of being on a small chain, with enough water and structure variety to stay interesting across seasons without feeling crowded.
