What makes Clearwater Lake rank as my favorite lake in the Northwoods?
While Clearwater Lake is a Gold Bar Realty property, that is not reason enough to get the top spot. Clearwater is an awesome lake. It's private, it's quiet, the water is clear and deep, it's spring-fed, the fishing is fantastic, there is a classic Northwoods shoreline, and the list goes on. It checks a lot of the boxes, but looking only at the lake, it is hard to say it's the best lake in the Northwoods. It's hard to beat the clarity of Black Oak Lake or Stormy Lake or the size of Trout Lake, Plum Lake, and White Sand Lake or the recreation opportunities offered on the Minocqua, Manitowish Waters, or Fence Lake Chain of Lakes. However, the reason I have Clearwater at #1 is that it isn't just about the lake - it's about the overall experience. Yes, the lake has all the fantastic features mentioned above, but it's also located within 5 miles of two towns, there is natural gas, high speed internet and good cell coverage, and the homes are all very nice. It's even more than that. Clearwater is the center point of a private development. The lakefront lots are surrounded by 700 undeveloped acres for the private use and enjoyment of the lake residents. When you own at Clearwater you can enjoy hiking trails, a practice "golf course", frisbee golf, and in general, a more expansive experience than owning just a lot on a different lake.
