Black Oak Lake

   Black Oak is an absolute jewel of a lake and is one of my favorite lakes in the Northwoods for many reasons. The top reason is the incredible clarity—Black Oak is the clearest lake in the state and has had secchi disk readings over 50 feet. The water clarity just blows you away when you see it in person. The lake sits west of Land O'Lakes and is far enough North that it doesn't get much traffic, but it's still close to a grocery store in Land O'Lakes. Biking, hiking, atv and snowmobile trails run close to the lake so you are always close to activities. Paddling on the lake is an awesome experience because of the clarity and the size and depth makes for great boating too. The Black Oak Lake Association is very active and probably the proudest of any in the Northwoods. They are diligent about doing what they can to protect the quality of the lake. The boat launch/beach at Black Oak is one of the nicer ones around and there is fiber around the lake for internet access. The lake is 564 acres and has an average depth of 34 feet. There are almost 5 acres of water per owner and less than 16 owners per mile of shoreline. The shoreline is heavily wooded and lightly developed with relatively few owners per mile of shoreline, creating a clean, natural look from the water. The combination of exceptional depth, clarity, and limited development makes Black Oak especially attractive to buyers who prioritize pristine water, a quieter atmosphere, and a more conservation-minded community. Shoreline properties tend to be larger and more widely spaced, so owners enjoy long sightlines, quiet bays, and a sense of being surrounded by forest and water rather than other cabins.
