Big Portage Lake

   Big Portage Lake is a quiet, isolated 600-acre lake near Land O Lakes with an average depth of 18 feet and 20 feet of clarity. Some parts of the lake are pretty difficult to get to and require traveling on logging roads, but it helps keep the lake nice and quiet. The lake isn't highly developed with only about 16 owners per mile of shoreline. Access often involves smaller roads and some stretches that feel like logging routes, but that effort is rewarded with a quieter shoreline, fewer boats, and long stretches of mixed hardwood and pine. Despite being within an easy drive of Land O' Lakes, it offers a semi-remote feeling thanks to access that often involves smaller roads and a relatively low density of shoreline owners. The combination of wooded shoreline, limited development, and clear water gives it strong appeal for buyers who want a bigger lake experience without heavy traffic, along with plenty of room for paddling, fishing, and slow cruising—a sizeable lake that still feels like an escape rather than a busy resort hub.
